Wade H. Cockburn, PhD is a lecturer, author, psychotherapist, and life coach. His doctorate is in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Somatic Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Along with his psychology degrees, he is certified in or has met the requirements as a relational somatic psychologist, yoga instructor (Ashtanga), conflict resolution and family mediation, massage therapist, basic business mediation, and business arbitrator.
For his doctoral practicum, Dr. Wade volunteered at a children’s day treatment center in Oregon and then was hired as one of the family therapists. He became a Qualified Mental Health Professional in Oregon and provided individual and child psychotherapy at the center before being named the clinical supervisor. After five wonderful and fulfilling years, he and his wife moved to Florida for personal and professional reasons.
Dr. Wade’s area of concentration are:
Somatic psychology (how issues are held in the body); Pre-and Perinatal psychology (psychology of the child from conception through 18 months); Energy psychology (mind-body, bioenergetic, neuro, and electrophysiology); Spiritual psychology (fulfilling your spiritual goals).
He specializes in birth trauma, parenting issues, positive marital relationships, family dynamics, authentic communications, health and nutrition, awareness training, ethical practices, personal and business development training, negotiations, risk management, and legacy planning. Please see the Topics Page for more specific themes.
Presently, Dr. Wade concentrates on his writing, both articles and books, and speaks to groups at schools, churches, yoga studios, and other seminars and workshops throughout the United States and Europe. However, he sometimes agrees to see a few select clients; these include veterans with post-traumatic stress/family issues and families with seemingly unexplained issues between parents and their children or between the children.
Dr. Wade resides with his wonderful daughter and grandchildren in Lubbock, TX. He can easily travel within a five-state area to lecture and hold workshops; Dr. Wade can usually accommodate speaking engagements in more distant regions if they fit within his schedule. Along with his psychological training, he has 30+ years of small and family-owned business management; although he does not consider himself worthy of the veteran title, he is honorably discharged from the United States Army. Dr. Wade is passionate about integrity, ethics, and clear and authentic communication in all types of relationships, be it the self, family, or businesses.
Dr. Wade is passionate about helping children and adults free themselves from the lingering effects of psychological, emotional, and physical abuse. Now that he is semi-retired, Dr. Wade helps others through his presentations to groups, contribution to a somatic psychology book, and his articles on a wide variety of parenting, developmental issues, forgiveness, and living an authentic, love-filled life!
