Thank you for visiting!
In the late 1990s, the successful family business that Wade H. Cockburn, PhD had worked for since 1978 and ran for over 10 years, underwent two fiscally devastating shareholder lawsuits that split the corporation amongst the third-generation family shareholders. Dr. Wade chose to make a career change into psychology in his fifties to understand better the dynamics of the different relationships involved in that crisis.
He first received a Master of Arts in Spiritual Psychology and realized he enjoyed helping others through psychotherapy, so he semi-retired from the business world. Dr. Wade then received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Somatic Psychology. Dr. Wade is also semi-retired from psychotherapy, focusing on writing, workshops, lecturing, and volunteering; covered subjects are listed under the Topics tab. However, he will see specific clients, principally young families and combat service members.
If you are a soldier or Marine and suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress (Dr. Wade believes there is no “D,” you do not have a disorder!), please get in touch with me. While Dr. Wade does not claim to be a veteran, he did receive an Honorable Discharge from the US Army, so he is familiar with the military. Think of your trauma as a compound fracture of your arm or leg; serious, but with the right tools and techniques, a complete recovery is possible.
Dr. Wade specializes in children from conception through tweens, especially preconceptions through the 18 months of postnatal life. Please get in touch with me if you have tried other methods and therapists and still have not resolved issues surrounding conception, birth, breastfeeding, baby cues and emotional states, and other parenting issues.
Having been in the business world for over thirty years, Dr. Wade understands small, closely held, and family businesses and has the knowledge to enhance the company’s health and wellness and the individuals involved. He provides strong challenge-solving skills, mentoring, mediation, or, if necessary, arbitration. In addition, Dr. Wade offers vital tactical and strategic planning with a proven ability in various management conditions, concentrating on legacy and business ethics.
Dr. Wade is passionate about helping children and adults free themselves from the lingering effects of psychological, emotional, and physical abuse. Now that he is semi-retired, Dr. Wade helps others through his presentations to groups, contribution to a somatic psychology book, and his articles on a wide variety of parenting, developmental issues, forgiveness, and living an authentic, love-filled life!

“Someday, maybe, there will exist a well-informed, well considered and yet fervent public conviction that the most deadly of all possible sins is the mutilation of a child’s spirit” Erik Erikson
